Şişmanlık oluşturduğu sağlık riskleri nedeniyle önlenmeli ve tedavi edilmelidir. Şişmanlığın

yer almaktadır. Genel olarak bedenin yağ kütlesinin yağsız kütleye oranının aşırı artması sonucu,

Normalde yetişkinlerde sinirsel, hormonal, kimyasal ve fiziksel mekanizmalarla; enerji alımı ile
harcaması arasında denge kurularak, vücut ağırlığı belirli bir düzeyde kalır. Bu mekanizmaların bir
veya birkaçındaki bozukluk bu dengeyi olumsuz yönde etkileyerek vücut ağırlığın değişmesine
neden olur.
Tedavi yönteminin doğru belirlenmesi yanında çoklu yöntem ( beslenme tedavisi, davranış
değişikliği ve fiziksek aktivitenin arttırılması) başarı oranını arttıran bir yöntemdir.
